our responsibility

Our environmental and social responsibility

We believe that taking our social and environmental responsibilities seriously is simply good business practice. They will be an inevitable feature for all successful businesses in the future, and we like being ahead of the game. Therefore, when the opportunity to build our own factory in Cambodia from scratch presented itself, PACTICS seized it with both hands. We know that good wages, worker empowerment, a safe and inviting workplace and a focus on sustainability are the only way forward for any sensible business and these principles guided every brick laid and every decision made. Corporate social responsibility is not an afterthought; it is in our very DNA. We took it further by locating the factory closer to the people themselves. The decision to build the factory in Siem Reap ensures that our employees remain in close contact with their social structures, maintain a normal family life and support their wider communities thanks to their employment with PACTICS.

The buildings

An expression of environmental and cultural harmony combined with PACTICS’ philosophy. Designed by British architect Stuart Cochlin, the factory is designed to work in close harmony with the local climate and surrounding environment in order to promote and sustain the welfare of our people. Cochlin’s work is a synthesis of PACTICS’ core beliefs and his own extensive knowledge of Cambodia’s culture, climate and natural world.

Natural power

One hundred and twenty solar panels arranged around the bicycle park provide around 10% of our electricity needs, while our generator and company vehicles run on biodiesel provided by local restaurants.

keeping cool in a hot climate

The innovative design creates a working space that is both cool and comfortable. Four buildings (300m2 to 800m2) arranged around a leafy, breezy central courtyard benefit from high south-facing roofs and north-facing windows which provide natural light and ventilation.

water collection

The complex includes a rainwater harvesting system for the rainy season, which also helps to avoid flooding. This water is then stored and used for internal plumbing purposes.

Huge skylights and windows allow us to work without the need for electric lighting during the day.
