Fibers of Pactics is a 4-part capsule series produced in collaboration with Population in which employees and management at Pactics share their perspectives on manufacturing in Cambodia. The series looks at the rapid rise of manufacturing starting from the 90s, how this evolved over the previous few decades, and future predictions and hopes. It also focuses on the working experiences of various positions and in different environments, from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. We hope to provide an inside look into manufacturing in Cambodia and specifically at Pactics

On Stitching Together a Global Manufacturing Company, the fourth and final part of Fibers of Pactics, Vannoeun Naing, Pactics’ Factory Manager and first employee in Cambodia, and Piet Holten, Pactics’ Founder and Chairman, share the story of how they met during Piet’s first time in Cambodia over a decade ago and the 15-person pilot project that would eventually grow to what Pactics is today. They describe the challenges, from getting the correct business licenses to finding the right customers, that have come up both in the past and present and how they see Pactics’ future.
