How products are made matters
As a manufacturing partner to mission-driven lifestyle brands, we recognize the significance of responsible manufacturing practices. However, we are just one party in the value chain, and all sustainable techniques and materials have pros and cons. There isn’t a silver bullet that ticks all the boxes. We’re here to cooperate with you to figure out what sustainability means to you and how to best live up to your values.
Our Impact
Sustainable Development Goals
Pactics translates its social and environmental practices into three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal approach for a safer place for people and the planet. These formulated goals lead to a common language to understand each other’s impact. Have you already identified specific SDGs to focus on? We can then explore how to contribute to them.
Optimizing our impact is in our core
Our production facility in Siem Reap, designed by Stuart Cochlin, prioritizes employee well-being and sustainability. Features include a water filtration system, library, on-site nurse, daycare, canteen, and greenery. All the roofs are insulated and tilted towards the south, while the north side is glass – meaning lots of natural light throughout the day.
Our people
We believe happy employees make quality products. Our SA8000 certification and Better Factories Cambodia accreditation demonstrate our commitment to social compliance and employee welfare. Our staff enjoys benefits like annual leave, health insurance, and professional development opportunities. We’re proud of our high staff retention rate; it’s the key to ensuring your products are delivered to the same high-quality standard every time.
Our Environment
At Pactics, we like a green and clean environment. Our facility is surrounded by trees and greenery, recycling stations are installed, the air quality is regularly measured, and we are calculating the scope 1 and scope 2 emissions and key emissions in scope 3. We do not only attempt to minimize our environmental impact at the facility but also empower our employees to practice sustainability through education on energy conservation and waste management.
Our Expertise
Pactics offers a one-stop-shop solution. From innovative and environmentally friendly materials to biodegradable packaging and emissions-saving logistics, we think along with you. We can use GRS-certified paper, FSC-certified paper, and plant-based, or biodegradable PLA polybags for packaging.
Another part of the process is legislation. When it comes to legislation, sustainability is not only a trending topic, it is also an important issue. Society, customers, brands, manufacturers, and governments feel the urge to act. We strive to be on top of the international sustainability legislation mainly coming from the European Union (EU) and United States (US), so we won’t face any surprises.
Materials & Techniques
Recycled Polyester
Selecting sustainable options requires careful consideration, balancing material characteristics and customer preferences with impact. We’re here to help you make thoughtful and informed decisions, every step of the way.
At Pactics, we mainly use polyester, preferably recycled. Our Digital Dye Sublimation technology optimizes results with polyester fabrics. Our fabric suppliers offer GRS-certified materials, ensuring your products follow high standards. Besides recyclability, traceability possibilities allow to track the supply chain.
These fabrics can be traditionally dyed but we prefer to look at other dyeing or printing techniques that use less water.
Waterless Dyed Material
Waterless dye is an eco-friendly coloring alternative that uses significantly less water than traditional dyeing. By purchasing waterless dyed materials instead of traditional dyed materials, we play our part in reducing water consumption and pollution in our supply chain.
We’re continuously exploring alternative dyeing techniques that use less water.
The Sustainable Pairing: Recycled Polyester & Waterless Dye
An even better solution is to combine recycled materials with waterless dye techniques. The combination of waterless dye and recycled fabrics outshines both virgin-dyed and recycled-dyed polyester, making it an interesting alternative option.
Where does our material come from?
Fabrics are sourced from China, Indonesia, Taiwan and Thailand. The non-toxic ink for our digital sublimation printing comes from Japan. Besides (Recycled) Polyester, we can source Virgin Nylon, Recycled Nylon, and Alternative Leather.
We are not limited to these fabrics. With our sourcing team in Wuxi, we are continuously and actively searching for eco-friendly materials and innovative techniques to improve our overall production processes and reduce our negative impact.
Our Future Plans
Social
We are on the right track, but there always remains room for improvement.
Our plans include improving literacy rates among our workforce, increasing female representation in management, and participating in community service activities.
Environmental
We aim to become carbon neutral by 2035 and introduce a zero single-use plastic policy in our facility. Furthermore, we set a goal to purchase more environmentally friendly fabric.
Our Achievements
Our awards & Certificates
Over the years, our sustainability performances have been rewarded. Both for social practices and environmental practices.
Since 2015, Pactics is SA8000-certified, one of the most stringent social compliance accreditations. Furthermore, we obtained the Golden Cambodian Green Industry Award and the SME Social Champion Award for Social Excellence in 2023.
